Tour Categories

Almotawif Almotawif Help

Group your tour packages into categories and sub-categories (for example by destination or season) that travelers browse on your website.

Tour categories are the lists travelers browse on your website, for example "Turkey Tours", "Europe" or "Summer Family Trips". A tour package only shows on your website once it belongs to at least one tour category.

How to get there

In the Almotawif menu, click Categories > Tours.

The category list

Categories are split into Visible Categories and Hidden Categories. Each row shows the ID, title (with its parent category underneath, if any), its Order and a Packages button with the number of packages in it. Use Search to find a category.

Create a category

  1. Click Create Tour Category.
  2. Enter the Category Title (required). The Friendly Link is the web address of the category page.
  3. Check that Package Type is Tour. To make it a sub-category, choose a Parent Category. For example, put "Istanbul" and "Cappadocia" under "Turkey Tours".
  4. Add a Description if your website shows one, then click Save.
  5. Optionally, use the other tabs: Featured Image (large and small image), Templates (a different layout for this category's page), SEO Meta Tags and Custom Fields.

Add packages to a category

  1. Open the package from Packages > Tours.
  2. Go to its Categories tab, tick the categories it belongs to and click Save. Only tour categories are offered for tour packages.

A package can be in several categories at once, for example a destination and a season.

Change the order

  • Categories: type a number in each category's Order box, then click Save Sorting. Lower numbers show first.
  • Packages inside a category: click the category's Packages button, change the order numbers, and click Save Sorting.

Hide or delete categories

Tick categories and click Hide Selected to take them off your website without losing them; bring them back from the Hidden Categories tab with Unhide Selected. Delete Selected removes categories permanently. The packages themselves aren't deleted.

Show a category on another website

Open the category and go to the Embed tab. Copy the Inline embed code, or the iframe code, and paste it where the package list should appear.

Tips

  • Give each category a featured image. Many website designs show it on the category card.
  • If a tour doesn't appear on your website, check that it has a future departure, isn't hidden, and is in a visible tour category.
