Everyone who shops with you gets an account on your website. It's where they check their orders, open receipts, pay anything still owed and keep their shipping addresses up to date, without calling you. This article walks through what they see, so you can help them when they ask.
How shoppers get an account
- An account is created automatically the first time someone orders with a new email address, using the name, phone and address from the order.
- Shoppers can also create an account from your website's sign-up page.
- Shoppers who ordered without a password set one with the forgot-password link on the sign-in page. You can also set one for them from Clients with Reset Password.
Signing in
Shoppers sign in with their email and password on your website's sign-in page and land on their shopping account (at /account/ct on your website). If someone opens an account page without being signed in, they're sent to the sign-in page and brought back afterwards.
The pages in their account
| Page | What the shopper sees and does |
|---|---|
| Shopping account | Their shipping details with an Edit profile button, a snapshot of their recent orders with View all, their saved addresses with Manage addresses, and a button back to the Shopping cart. |
| My Orders | Their full order history. They can filter by status and search by order number or product name. See below. |
| Saved addresses | Add, edit or delete shipping addresses for faster checkout. Addresses are also saved when they complete checkout. |
My Orders
Each order shows its number, date, status, the first few items and the total. Depending on the order, the shopper also sees:
- View Details: the shipping address and the subtotal, tax, shipping and total.
- Tracking: the tracking number, once you've created a shipping label for the order.
- Receipt: a printable receipt with the order, the payments made and any balance due.
- Balance due and Pay balance: shown when money is still owed, for example on an order you entered as unpaid. See below.
Some sites also show a Reorder button on each order. It doesn't add items to the cart yet, so shoppers should reorder from your store pages for now.
Paying a balance
- The shopper clicks Pay balance on the order.
- They pay by card, either on the page or on your payment provider's checkout page, depending on your gateway.
- The payment is recorded on the order, a receipt is emailed, and a Pending order that is now fully paid moves to Paid.
The amount is always the full outstanding balance worked out from the order; the shopper can't change it. Canceled orders can't be paid online. If online payment isn't set up for your store, the shopper is asked to contact you instead.
What you control
- Online payments: connect a payment gateway under Settings → API Connections and turn on online payment and your currency in the Storefront3000 Payment Options settings. See Storefront3000 Overview.
- Order statuses and tracking: the status and tracking number shoppers see come from the order page. Keep to Pending, Paid and Fullfilled for now, because Quote Sent and Canceled currently show to shoppers with different labels. See Orders.
- Shopper details: correct names, emails, passwords and addresses from Clients. See Clients.
- Your website: sites we host include the account pages. If your site has no My Account link in its menu, ask us to add one.
