Announcements and lesson questions keep students informed without a full discussion forum.
Announcements
- On a program with Online Learning, open the Announcements tab.
- Click New announcement.
- Enter a title and body. Optionally limit the announcement to one session. Otherwise it goes to the whole program.
- Save. Enrolled learners who can open lessons are emailed, and the notice appears on My learning.
- Attach files after you save if you need them. Downloads stay private. Only enrolled learners can open them.
Lesson questions
Students can ask a question under any open lesson in My learning. Reply from the lesson editor's Lesson Q&A section (Content tab, then open the lesson).
- Hide a post so learners no longer see it.
- Pin a question to the top.
- Accept a reply as the answer.
Under Settings → Online learning, turn on Allow learners to reply to each other only when that fits your program. It stays off by default, which is the right setting when students are minors. Staff can always reply. Students can still ask questions and follow up on their own thread when peer replies are off.
