Job Skills

Careerly Careerly Help

Manage the skills you tag job postings with in Careerly, group them into skill categories, and use them as a filter on your board.

Job skills are the specific abilities a job asks for, for example Forklift Operation, Bookkeeping or JavaScript. You tag postings with skills, and visitors can filter your board by them.

How to get there

Open Careerly → Lookup Tables → Job Skills.

The list

The list shows each skill's ID, Skill name and Category. You can sort by ID or name and search by name.

Add or edit a skill

  1. Click New Skill, or the pencil button on an existing skill.
  2. Type the Skill name (required).
  3. Optionally pick a Skill category to group it (see Skill Categories).
  4. Click Save.

Where skills are used

  • The Skills field on a job posting (hold Ctrl, or Cmd on a Mac, to pick several).
  • The skills filter on your public job board. The filter only lists skills used by at least one live posting.

Good to know

  • This list shows only the skills you've added. Your board may also include standard skills provided by Net3000. Those appear in the posting form and filters but aren't listed here and can't be edited.
  • Deleting a skill is permanent. Renaming is usually safer if postings already use it.
  • Use one clear name per skill (not both "Excel" and "MS Excel") so the filter stays tidy.
