Job postings are the jobs that appear on your public job board. In Careerly, you and your staff create every posting for your employers. Employers can't post jobs from your website themselves.
How to get there
Open Careerly → Job Postings.
The postings list
The list shows each posting's ID, Title, Location, Status, Employer and Created date, newest first. Use the search box to find a posting, the pencil button to edit it, and the bin button to delete it. Tick several rows to delete them together.
Create a posting
- Make sure the company exists under Employer Profiles. Every posting must belong to an employer.
- Click Create New.
- On the Main tab, enter the Title, pick the Employer Profile (start typing the company name and choose it from the list), and write the Description. All three are required.
- On the Details tab, fill in the job details described below.
- Click Save. A new posting starts with Pending Review selected. You can choose a different valid status before saving.
- To publish a draft or pending posting, set Status to Active and click Save. If you chose Active on the first save, no second save is needed.
Posting details
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Responsibilities, Qualifications | Formatted text shown on the job page. |
| City, Province, Country | Where the job is. Visitors can filter the board by city. |
| Employment Type, Work Arrangement | Chosen from your lookup lists (for example Full-time, Remote). Both are filters on your board. |
| Salary Min, Salary Max, Salary Period | The pay range and what it covers, for example 60,000 to 75,000 per year. Choose the posting's salary currency; Canadian dollars are the default. |
| Years of Experience Required, Education Required | Requirements shown on the job page. |
| Application Deadline | The closing date shown to applicants. |
| Expiry Date | After this date the posting drops off your public board automatically, even if it is still Active. |
| Number of Positions | How many openings the posting covers. |
| Status | Where the posting is in its life (see below). |
| Featured | Marks the posting as featured. Themes that include a featured-jobs section can display it there. |
| Categories, Industries, Skills | Hold Ctrl (Cmd on a Mac) to pick several. These drive the filters on your board. When a visitor filters by a parent category, postings in its subcategories are included. |
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Still being written. |
| Pending Review | Waiting for your approval. |
| Active | Live on your public board until its expiry date. |
| Closed | The position is filled or no longer open. |
| Archived | Kept for your records only. |
| Rejected | You declined the posting. |
Only Active postings that haven't expired appear on your website.
SEO tab
Controls how the job page looks in search results and when it's shared. Meta Description is the snippet search engines show (150 to 160 characters works best). Social Media Image is the picture used when the job is shared; if it's empty, the Large Image is used, then the employer's logo. The SEO tab has its own Save button that saves only these settings. Small Image and Exclude from sitemap are saved but not used by the job pages yet.
Embed tab
After the first save, the Embed tab gives you code to show this one job on any web page, either inline or in an iframe. It works on WordPress, Wix and other site builders.
Membership limits
If you sell membership plans with a job posting limit, Careerly checks the employer's plan when you create a posting and shows a message when the limit is reached. See Job Board: Membership Plans and Posting Quotas.
Tips
- To take a job down, set it to Closed or Archived rather than deleting it. The posting and its applications stay on record.
- Deleting removes a posting from the normal admin list and public board. Prefer closing or archiving when you want to keep working with its applications.
- Set an Expiry Date on every posting so old jobs don't linger on your board.
