An application connects a job seeker to one of your postings. Most arrive when a signed-in job seeker applies from a job page on your website. You can also add an application yourself, for example for a candidate who applied by email.
How to get there
Open Careerly → Job Applications.
The list
The list shows the job, the candidate, the status and the date of each application, newest first. Search by job title or candidate name. Use the pencil button to open an application and the bin button to delete it.
Review an application
- Open the application.
- Read the Cover Letter and the details the candidate gave, such as Availability, Expected Salary and Willing to Relocate.
- If a résumé is attached, click View Resume.
- Change the Status as the candidate moves through your process, and add any Employer Notes.
- Click Save.
Statuses
Job seekers see the status you choose, word for word, next to each application in their dashboard on your website. You can move an application to any status in any order.
| Status | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Submitted | New application. Every new application starts here. |
| Reviewed | You've looked at it. Counted as Under Review in the job seeker's dashboard. |
| Shortlisted | On your shortlist. |
| Interviewed | Interview done. |
| Offered | Job offered. |
| Approved | Accepted or hired. |
| Rejected | Not going ahead. The candidate will see this word. |
| Withdrawn | The candidate pulled out. |
| Archived | Kept for your records only. |
| Draft | Not yet submitted. |
Add an application yourself
- Make sure the candidate exists under Job Seeker Profiles.
- Click Create New.
- In Job Posting, type at least three letters of the job title and choose the job. Do the same in Job Seeker Profile for the candidate.
- Add the cover letter and other details if you have them, then click Save. New applications are saved as Submitted.
Résumé files
Under Resume, choose a PDF, DOC or DOCX file of up to 10 MB to attach it to the application. This is the only place in Careerly where résumé files are attached. The remove button takes the résumé off the application.
Tips
- Employer Notes are for you and your staff. They aren't shown in the job seeker's dashboard.
- Careerly doesn't email candidates when you change a status, so contact them yourself when there's news.
- A job seeker can apply to each posting only once. Their dashboard and the job page show that they've already applied.
- Deleted applications can still show in this list for now.
