Business Directory Business Directory Help

What visitors see when they browse your business directory, and how a listing gets there.

Business Directory adds a directory of local businesses to your website. Anyone can browse it — no account needed.

What visitors can do

  • Browse by category. Your categories are listed down the side. Clicking one shows only the businesses in it; All shows everything.
  • Search. Type a business name or a keyword and press Search. The search looks at the business name, its descriptions and its tags.
  • Open a listing. Each business has its own page with its photo, short and full description, categories, phone, email and website.

Which listings appear

Only published listings appear in the directory. A listing that is waiting for review, has been rejected or suspended, or has been archived is hidden from visitors until it is published again.

A listing is published when:

  • you create it yourself in Listings and set it to Published, or
  • you approve a member's listing in Moderation, or
  • a member whose tier is set to publish automatically saves it (see Membership Plans and Listing Quotas).

Setting up your categories

Go to Business Directory → Categories to add, rename, reorder or switch off categories. Only active categories are shown to visitors and offered to members when they add a listing.

Linking to the directory

The directory lives at /bd on your website. Add it to your site menu (for example “Business Directory”) so visitors can find it.
