Tips, empty-leg charges and surcharge categories

Limo Man Limo Man Help

Offer suggested tips at checkout, charge for the drive to the pickup, and group your surcharges into categories.

All of these are optional. Until you turn them on, your prices don't change.

Gratuity (tips)

In Limo Man → Settings → Gratuity:

  • Preset percentages: for example 15, 18, 20. At checkout the customer sees a button for each, plus No tip.
  • Pre-selected: the preset chosen for the customer to start with.
  • Allow a custom amount: lets the customer type their own dollar amount.
  • Mandatory: always adds the tip. The No tip button is hidden, and a custom amount can't go below the pre-selected tip.

The tip is worked out on the fare only. It's added last, so it doesn't change the tax. On a round trip the tip is charged once for the whole journey.

Empty leg (deadhead)

Charge for the distance your car drives from your dispatch location to the pickup.

In Limo Man → Settings → Empty leg (deadhead):

  • Charge for the empty leg turns it on.
  • Rate per mile (or kilometre): the price per mile of empty driving.
  • Free allowance: the first miles you don't charge for.
  • Also charge the return to dispatch: adds the drive from the drop-off back to your base.

The customer sees a Deadhead line in their price summary. It's taxed like the fare. A round trip has one deadhead charge, not one per leg.

Surcharge categories

In Limo Man → Application Setup → Additional Charges, each additional charge (for example airport fees, late-night charges or taxes) can have a Category, shown in the list, so a long list of charges stays organised.

Quotes

Trips that become quotes don't get a tip or empty-leg line automatically. You price those yourself when you send the quote.
