What Membership Plans are
Membership Plans let you offer paid or free memberships to the public. Each plan can grant access to one or more of your installed applications, and each application can treat members differently—for example member ticket rates at events, posting quotas on a job board, listing limits in a business directory, or members-only pages in Simply CMS.
A visitor signs up for a plan on your public memberships page. After they become an Active entitled member, your apps recognize that plan when they check prices, quotas, or restricted content.
How to set up a plan
- In admin, open Membership Plans (
/MembershipPlans). - Create a plan (title, price or free, public/active flags, renewal period as needed).
- Under Applications this plan grants, check each application members should unlock (for example Event Management, Job Board, Business Directory, Simply CMS).
- Use the gear next to an application to set that app’s limits (event Adults/Children, job posting quotas, business listing quotas, and similar).
- Save. Public, active plans appear on
/memberships?account=…for visitors to join.
Managing members
Open Members to see who joined, their status (Active, Suspended, Expired, and so on), and to assign a login user to a plan offline when needed. Members can also sign in at /memberships/signin and manage their membership at /account/memberships.
How applications use Membership Plans
- Event Management — Tickets can use member pricing or be member-only. Different plans can map to different member types so each plan can have its own rates. See the Event Management help article on membership and ticket rates.
- Job Board — An Active plan that grants Job Board can enforce how many jobs (and resumes) a member may post.
- Business Directory — An Active plan that grants Business Directory can enforce listing quotas and related limits.
- Simply CMS — Pages, categories, and videos can require one or more Membership Plans. Leave the list empty for public content; select plans so only Active members on those plans can view the item.
Apps only treat someone as a member when their membership is Active and entitled for the current period. Suspended, expired, unpaid, or wrong-plan members do not receive member benefits.
Tips
- You can offer several plans (for example Individual and Family). A person typically holds one Active membership per account.
- Grant only the applications that plan should unlock; leave others unchecked.
- Configure per-app limits on the plan before promoting signup, so quotas and rates are correct from day one.
