Let visitors attach files to a form

Simply CMS Simply CMS Help

Add a File upload field so visitors can send documents and photos. Files are stored privately and only signed-in staff can open them.

Forms can accept files, for example a résumé, a photo of a damaged item or a signed document.

Add a file field

In the form designer (Templates → Design), add a File upload field from the palette and Save. If you build forms with Paste or Upload, include a file input in your form.

What visitors can send

  • File types: PDF, Word (doc, docx), Excel (xls, xlsx), text (txt) and images (jpg, jpeg, png, gif, webp).
  • Up to 10 MB per file.
  • Other file types, and larger files, are not accepted.

Where files go

  • Attachments are stored privately. They are not on a public web address and can't be found by search engines.
  • To open one, go to Forms → Submissions, open the submission and click the attachment. You must be signed in to your admin area.
  • Deleting a submission also deletes its attachments. You can also delete a single attachment from the submission.
