Create a campaign

Broadcaster3000 Broadcaster3000 Help

Walk through the 4-step campaign wizard in Broadcaster3000: pick or write a message, choose recipients and see how many people will get it, schedule the send, and review the pre-flight checklist before sending.

A campaign is one send of an email message to one or more mailing lists, on a schedule. The Broadcaster3000 campaign wizard breaks that into four steps so you can build a draft, come back to it, and only send once everything checks out.

The four steps

  1. Message — what you’re sending.
  2. Recipients — who it goes to.
  3. Schedule — when it goes out.
  4. Review & Send — final pre-flight check, then send or schedule.

You can jump back to any step you’ve already completed using the numbered tabs at the top. Steps you haven’t reached yet stay disabled until the previous step is valid.

Getting here

  1. From the admin sidebar, open Broadcaster3000 → Campaigns.
  2. Click New Campaign to start a fresh draft, or click any existing draft in the list to resume editing it.

You can also start the wizard from the Messages or Lists page — the Create Campaign button next to a message, or the Send Campaign button next to a list, passes that message or list through as a starting point.

Step 1 — Message

Pick how you want to start:

Send an existing message
Select one of the messages already saved in your account. Good when you’re reusing a newsletter template or sending the same announcement to a different list.
Send a new message
Write the message inline as part of the wizard. The fields are the same ones you’d see on the Messages page:
  • Title (required) — internal label so you can find this message later. Recipients never see it.
  • Subject (required) — the subject line in the inbox. Keep it short, specific, and avoid ALL CAPS / exclamation marks — those trip spam filters.
  • From name and From email — who the email appears to come from. Defaults to your account’s company name and email; override per-campaign if you want a different sender (e.g. a person’s name instead of the company).
  • Reply-to email (optional) — where replies should land if it’s different from the From address.
  • Body (required) — the HTML email content. Use the editor toolbar for formatting, links, and images.
Messages you write here are saved into your message library, so you can reuse them in a future campaign.

Step 2 — Recipients

Choose who receives the campaign. Broadcaster3000 shows how many people the email will reach, so there are no surprises after you click send.

Use an existing list
Pick one or more lists. Each list shows its number of active subscribers. This counts unique email addresses, so an address added to a list twice is counted once. People who unsubscribed from the list, bounced, or are excluded aren’t counted. The same number appears in the Subscribers column on the Lists page.
Upload a new list
Give the list a name and drop in a CSV file. Broadcaster3000 reads the file, suggests which column holds the email addresses and shows a preview. Confirm the email column and click Import these subscribers; the new list is created and selected for this campaign.

How many people will receive it

Once you’ve picked your lists, the wizard shows the total number of recipients:

  • An address on more than one of the lists you picked is counted, and emailed, once.
  • When a list is linked to an audience (customers drawn from another Net3000 app you use), those customers are included. That part of the count is marked as approximate because the audience is checked again at send time.
  • Click View matching audience to see exactly who the audience includes. The button only appears when one of your lists has an audience.
What you seeWhy
The total is lower than the lists added togetherPeople on several lists are only emailed once.
The audience part is marked approximateNew customers who match the audience before the send date are added.
The final sent count is a little lowerAddresses that unsubscribed or bounced between now and the send are skipped.

Step 3 — Schedule

Choose when the campaign should go out:

Send immediately
The campaign queues for sending as soon as you click Send Now on step 4.
Schedule for later
Pick a date and time. The campaign sits as a scheduled draft until the system reaches that time, then sends automatically. You can come back and edit or cancel it any time before the scheduled moment.

If you pick a date in the past, the wizard warns you and asks you to either fix the date or switch to Send immediately.

Step 4 — Review & Send

The review step summarises the decisions you just made — subject, from name and email, lists, schedule — so you can sanity-check everything in one place.

The pre-flight checklist

Below the summary is a checklist that catches the common mistakes that would otherwise cause a failed or wasted send. Each row is either passing or needs attention, with a Fix link that takes you back to the relevant step. The checks are:

  • The subject is filled in.
  • The From name is set.
  • The From email is set.
  • The message body is not empty.
  • The lists have at least one recipient.
  • An unsubscribe link will be added automatically.

The Send Now / Schedule Send button stays disabled until every row passes. This is intentional — once a campaign is sent it can’t be unsent, so the checklist is the last line of defence.

Save as draft vs. send

Save as Draft
Available at every step. Stores what you have so far and returns you to the Campaigns list. Drafts don’t send anything — safe to leave and come back to later.
Send a test email
On step 4, sends the current message to up to five addresses you choose (for example your own), so you can preview how it will look in an inbox. Doesn’t touch your lists.
Send Now / Schedule Send
The final action on step 4. Send Now queues the campaign for immediate delivery; Schedule Send books it for the date and time you picked on step 3. Once a campaign has been sent it is locked — you can view it but no longer edit message, lists, or schedule.

After sending

Once sent (or scheduled), the campaign appears in the Campaigns list with its status. For a sent campaign, open its delivery log to see, address by address, whether each email was delivered, bounced, dropped or unsubscribed.

If something goes wrong

A failed campaign keeps the same record so you can inspect what happened. Common causes: every recipient was suppressed (unsubscribed, bounced, or on the exclusions list), or there was a problem with the sender address. Fix the underlying issue, then create a new campaign reusing the same message.
